

5.14 RAL Lifeguard Recert
Service Description
Lifeguard recertification can be achieved with Lifeguarding Review classes that refresh your knowledge and skills and update your certification for another two years. To participate in the Lifeguard Review class you must have a current lifeguard certification, or certification expired by no more than 30 days. Participants will be required to perform the following prerequisite skills: Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: -Minimum age: 15 years --Swim 150 yards - 2 minute tread - 50 yard swim. -Complete a timed event within 1 minute 40 seconds by starting in the water swimming 20 yards surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point exit the water without using steps or a ladder.

All American Red Cross Lifeguarding courses require participants to successfully complete 2 prerequisite swim tests per the r.24 Red Cross curriculum Part 1 “Swim-tread- swim sequence without stopping or resting” Jump into the water and totally submerge, resurface then swim 150 yards using the front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. Maintain position at the surface of the water for 2 minutes by treading water using only legs. swim 50 yards using front crawl, breaststroke or a combination of both. - . Part 2 “Brick Test” - Candidate must be able to swim 20 yards, retrieve a 10 pound object from 7 feet of water, and return to starting position while swimming on back within 100 seconds (swim goggles are not permitted for brick portion). Participants must have the online modules of training completed by the start of the in person hands-on skills day. Failure to do so will result in being dropped from the course with no refund. CANCELLATION REQUESTS made with at least 10 days notice will be eligible for a full refund. Cancellation requests after this up to 5 days before the first day of the course will be eligible for 50% refund. NO REFUNDS will be issued for late withdrawals (within 5 days of class start date). This includes no shows, failure to complete online training or failure to meet prerequisite requirements as outline above. Participants must be able to demonstrate proficiencies in all areas of hands on skills and pass the timed emergency simulation event and pass the multiple choice exam with an 80% or higher to achieve certification.
